Russ and Simon’s Memorial Cycle Ride: Raising Funds for St Nicholas Hospice and Bury Rugby Club

We are incredibly proud of our colleagues, Russell Green and Simon Stuteley, who have worked at St Eds for 17 and 10 years respectively. They are taking on the Memorial Cycle Ride to support St Nicholas Hospice and Bury Rugby Club, causes close to their hearts.

Russ and Simon, friends for over a decade, are new to cycling. Inspired by the Memorial Cycle Ride to raise funds and honour loved ones, they got road bikes this year and started their training – constantly learning along the way. Simon, who played for Bury Rugby Club for over 10 years, is especially keen to support the club through this effort.

St Edmundsbury Wealth Management has supported St Nicholas Hospice for many years, recognising the vital role it plays in the community. This charity is deeply cherished by the team, making Russ and Simon’s participation even more poignant.

The Memorial Cycle Ride is a significant event that commemorates the lives lost in the 1974 air disaster and raises funds for both St Nicholas Hospice and Bury Rugby Club. Participants will cover approximately 354 miles over six days, starting from Bury St Edmunds, travelling to Ermenonville, and returning via the Hook of Holland.

Recently, they completed a 64-mile ride, “The Edge,” around Suffolk organised by St Nicholas. This event was their longest ride to date and served as an important part of their preparation for the Memorial Cycle Ride. Their training, full of determination and camaraderie, reflects their dedication to making a meaningful contribution.
